The kitchen hallway makeover is coming along! After planning to build recessed shelves in here, I quickly realized there was plumbing behind the wall so that wasn’t going to work…haha. So, I pivoted and decided to build a DIY peg ledge!

- 1×3 Wood
- Construction Screws
- Table Saw
- Drill
- Forstner Drill Bit
- Wood Filler
- Sanding Sponge
- Wood Glue
- Brad Nailer
- Wooden Pegs
- Paint Roller
- Swiss Coffee by Behr
- Level
Making My Ledge
Let’s get started! I had a bunch of scrap wood left over from various projects. First, I cut down my wood on my table saw for the piece that would go on the wall and then a piece for the shelf that would sit on top.
Then I took my drill and a forstner bit and drilled 4 holes to make space for the pegs. It’s important to make sure these holes are a bit smaller than your pegs so the pegs will fit snug. After that, I painted it with Swiss Coffee to match all the other white around the house.
Installation
To install my peg ledge, I grabbed my level and then drilled the piece with the holes onto the wall. I took some wood filler to cover the screws on either side, sanded it down, and then painted over it.
Then, I attached the shelf piece on top with wood glue and my brad nailer.
Pegs
For the pegs, I put wood glue on each one and then hammered them into their holes.
& there you have it! This DIY Peg Ledge was the perfect solution for this little spot. There is just enough room for Indy & Moose’s treat jars too!
Stay tuned for the entire hallway reveal. I’m so excited!
