The Cottage Flooring Makeover – Cali Floors

If you asked me to recommend a flooring company, Cali would hands down be the one. I found Cali through my own research back in 2021 when I was renovating the upstairs at my old house. Remember this project??
I had a fully carpeted upstairs that I wanted to rip up. I collected samples from several brands before narrowing it down to Cali’s products. I even stepped on all of the flooring samples with high heels to confirm that they passed the “doesn’t sound like cheap plastic flooring” test (haha)! I loved their affordability, quality, durability, and the way that they feel. And they were BEAUTIFUL!
In addition to using their flooring throughout my upstairs, I also fully floored my carpeted basement using Cali’s LVP line. And my bestie’s study makeover got a Cali LVP transformation too!
Fast forward to this year! My sister and I have been helping her boyfriend’s family renovate their beach cottage on the Chesapeake Bay. We worked to totally transform their living room, which was the only area in the home with hardwoods. The rest of the cottage had carpet and dated grey linoleum tiles. I recommended that they use Cali’s LVP throughout the whole cottage to coordinate with the hardwood flooring in the living room.
We ordered several samples and ultimately, Knotted Nook was the perfect choice for this old coastal cottage. It felt just right. A knotty, warm-toned, worn-looking, and gorgeous floor with beachy vibes. And just WAIT to see the before and after transformation of the hallway!
It really blows me away how choosing the right flooring can make SUCH a huge impact. I love the way that this looks like something we could have found lying already underneath the old linoleum flooring. It is just gorgeous. But more importantly….
These floors are top-notch when it comes to quality. Which is perfect for this family beach cottage that gets lots of kid/pet/sandy beach feet traffic. They are totally waterproof! This is the biggest reason why choosing a great quality LVP can be so impactful in a home. You can absolutely have the warm look and character of a wood floor, without compromising the resilience in areas that may get wet.
I completed this hallway transformation by updating the light fixture and then adding some fun antique finds to the walls. To include the owner’s Dad’s antique wooden water ski…HOW COOL! I hung some cafe curtains, and it finished the new look.
And now these beautiful floors have totally transformed this cottage. Bringing in tons of WARMTH and character. Making the rest of the cottage feel cohesive with the gorgeous living room. EEEEEE! I’m so happy with how it turned out!
