I cannot believe how far this beach cottage living room has come! My twin sister and I were so excited to work on this project together for her boyfriend’s family. It’s the cutest little cottage on the Chesapeake Bay. We really wanted this room to feel old, full of soul, and coastal charm.

This was our inspiration for the space…nautical, old, & just fulllll of character.

Fireplace

We started by completely renovating the fireplace. We added bead board to the cinderblock walls and added some framing around the fireplace. We also replaced the brick surrounding the fireplace. We painted the walls and trim the most beautiful shades of blue….we went for a two-tone look and it turned out so good!

Banquette Seating

Next up, we built this beautiful banquette seating with a view of the water. They used to have a little dining table here by the window. But they do a LOT of hosting here so we decided to build banquette seating all along the window (with storage) paired with a rectangular table so they can fit a lot more people!

Wicker Sofa Makeover

For furniture and decor, my sister and I wanted to find as much of it second hand as we could…and I hit the jackpot on Facebook Marketplace with this vintage Henry Link wicker sofa!

I am not even kidding when I say these sets go for thousands of dollars online. And I found this one for just $200!! It just needed some love. So I restored some of the wicker, reupholstered, and painted the wicker and I’m in love with how it turned out. I will say, it was a bit more time consuming than I anticipated – but I’m so happy with it!

As I mentioned, we wanted to find as many pieces second hand for this space as possible. My sister and I love a good antiquing trip so this was music to our ears! We found some incredible pieces and are SOOO in love with how this beach cottage living room turned out!!!!
