The kids’ bathroom is looking so dang good! I finished the floor and shower tile – now onto the vanity makeover! I didn’t want to fully gut this, so I decided to just modify it and replace the countertops! These were perfectly good cabinets with great storage – I love updating things like this! The plan was to try and make this cabinet look like a vintage piece of furniture by adding face trim to make the doors inset (like I did in my kitchen), changing the hardware, and adding a decorative toe kick!

I started by finally saying goodbye to the dated, beige paint on the walls. I painted it Swiss Coffee by Behr to go with the rest of my house!

After everything was painted, I added new baseboards and quarter rounds!

For the face trim, I used wood scraps from my shed! I secured them with brad nails and filled the holes with caulk, and sanded.

I built a support piece out of 2×4’s for my toe kick – it’s what the actual toe kick would attach to.
Then I used my tried and true method for a fancy toe kick – my turkey platter 😂 I used my table saw to cut everything down to size. Then, I used my turkey platter to trace a curve onto the wood. I used my jigsaw to cut the curves, then I secured the toe kick to my frame. Boom. Already looked soooo good.

I’d never used purple in my house before…and I was sooo excited to put it in here! I put up a few swatches and ultimately decided on Aplomb by Benjamin Moore. Before I got painting, I applied some primer to the cabinets. I used Zinsser Bin Shellac Primer for this.

After the primer was dry, I painted! This color is actually so perfect for this space! I some beautiful drop tassel pulls for the cabinets and WOW are they beautiful.

Then the countertop guys came and installed my countertops and OH MY WORD I CANNOT WAIT TO SHOW YOU!
