This hallway was a huge pain point for me after finishing up the entire master suite. I hated walking out of my beautiful bedroom oasis into this sad hallway. I felt like it was just begging for a special treatment. And to be BOLD! Here’s my hallway makeover reveal!
The Before…
The whole space just felt a little sad, dark, and dated. First, I removed the old carpet and baseboards. I replaced the carpet with some beautiful engineered hardwoods by Cali Floors to match the flooring in my bedroom. I then added new chunky baseboards. To add in some depth and dimension, I installed crown moulding with picture railing under it and painting the new trim and ceiling Anew Grey by Sherwin Williams.
Next, I installed this beautiful bold wallpaper by Hygge & West and painted the baseboards and door trim to match the ceiling and ceiling trim. I removed the old ceiling air return vent and replaced it with a custom magnetic return vent cover to make the vent feel like more of a decorative accent. Additionally, I replace the string on the attic door with some new hardware for an updated look.
Also, I built a custom wood console table to go in the awkward corner. I wanted a place for a lamp to sit for cozy lighting. I built it inspired by an out of budget table!
The After
I am so in love with how this hallway turned out! It feels like a swanky boutique hotel and I LOVE THAT! I adore the boldness, the quirkiness, the charm. And I love the way that it feels to walk through it and into all of the finished rooms upstairs.
I am so happy with how it turned out!

Looks great!
Did you hang your artwork using the molding? I can’t tell from photos
Hi Melissa!
Yes I did use the picture rail moudling to hang these pictures. It’s hard to see in the images – but the tops of the photos sort of come off the wall. You can see the chain right above there!
