My Renovation Plans for 2022

Yesterday I shared a FULL house tour with you guys…so today I am sharing my 2022 renovation PLANS with you!

There are lots of spaces in this house that need attention. Let’s start with the highest priority ….

The Deck

For obvious reasons….

We have been living with a half done deck since late summer which not only is a safety hazard being that it is two stories high, but I am wayyyy to impatient to leave a project unfinished! Thankfully we now have all of our materials which means we can go ahead and complete it! Building two story stairs does get a bit complicated though. After putting lots of effort in trying to figure that out, David and I decided that it would be best to hire it out and make sure that it gets done right. We have someone coming to take care of that for us at the end of February. Once the stairs are complete, I’ll work on building the deck pergola and finishing up the deck with lots of pretty things! I can’t wait.

Shed

We are getting a shed!! This is something that has been in the works for quite some time. To put it simply, we just need one. You can see in this photo where we have a perimeter set up for where the shed will be located. But I won’t let it be a boring project…because DUH. I have big 2022 renovation plans for this shed and I can’t wait to share them with you! Stay tuned….

My Office

In my house tour this week, I mentioned that I have outgrown my small desk in the study. I just run out of storage space for my cameras, lighting equipment, decor items, renovation product overflow. I’m basically storing everything in random parts all over the house. I have made it work, but to say that I need a designated space for all of those things is an understatement. Additionally, I have had so much trouble staying focused on all of the backend @cassmakeshome stuff (emails, zoom calls, planning content, etc.) while the girl’s are playing right next to me. I am really in need of a quiet space that is away from all of the noise and distractions. I am so thankful that we have such a large separate area in the basement that I can take advantage of! Wow. It is perfect. I will be able to just go downstairs, shut the door, and focus and be creative and not feel pulled in multiple directions. This will also give me an area for a project table (for the smaller projects) that I can spread out on instead of my dining room table!

The Yard

Last year in the late summer I shared that I am giving our whole backyard a makeover! I even worked with Yardzen to get some amazing renderings that I can use for inspiration. I really want to make our yard a welcoming retreat with lots of beautiful landscaping.

The Girl’s Bathroom

AHHHH!!! Another bathroom renovation on the books! Guys. I can’t explain how excited I am for this. Mostly because I want to experience doing a bathroom renovation again withOUT the time constraints like my bathroom renovation. But also, the girl’s absolutely love my bathroom and are always asking me to make their’s “pretty too”. I can’t wait to do this for them. I have already ordered tile samples!

The Hallway

When I took you guys on a tour through the house this week, I mentioned that the hallway drives me NUTS. It’s the fraying/ripped/stained carpet and the dull walls that really get me. It’s just due time for me to give this area some special attention. I love an opportunity to really go bold, and I think this is it! I see lots of wallpaper hanging in my near future….

Gym

My big 2022 renovation plans for the basement include making a portion of it a home gym. We already have some (dated) gym equipment down there that we both use. I’m hoping to create a really cool space for it down there (and relocating it to the far right side of the basement) and making it feel like a separate space from my office area. I’m picturing lots of wood wall/ceiling treatments and sleep new gym equipment. This will be really fun!

I can’t wait to take you guys along!

-Cass

  1. I love your ideas for a gym. Maybe you could do something like the gym at Only you boutique Hotel in Valencia

  2. Cass I can not wait to watch all these projects and continue to be inspired by your all in approach!!! You truly give me endless courage to tackle all projects in my home 👏🏼🎉. Thank you for sharing the wins, the struggles, the success!!! You rock!

  3. Can’t wait to see all of these! I recently bought a resin shed and definitely feel lost as to how to maximize the space. Can’t wait to see what you do with it.

  4. Can’t wait to see it all your new projects! I enjoy watching you and have loved all the renovations!

  5. I love following your DIY projects, and I also love that you are sharing some of the behind the scenes stuff on your blog… the real life status of rooms and unfinished areas if you will. Thanks for keeping things real.

  6. “Summer is the best month to renovate a house and is the most popular time of year to renovate. Folks emerge from the holiday season ready to start planning, and therefore construction starts a few months later during June, July and August. So if you’re thinking of listing your home, these are the renovations that should top your to-do list. (1)Garage door replacement (2)Manufactured stone veneer (3)Minor kitchen remodel (4)Siding, Windows and Deck addition. There are four types of renovation projects: the basics, curb appeal, best bang for the buck, and passion projects. Not all of them provide a high return on investment.
