I went to the antique store to find some unique, final touches for the dining room. It was so fun! I found a table that I fell in LOVE with. The painted top wasn’t quite me, but the table was in beautiful shape. After trying out a few different things, I decided to make a DIY chess board table!
Here’s what the table looked like with the painted top. Not quite my style..
I used some of my leftover paint from the paint wash I did on the console table in here. You can see that console table makeover in this blog post!
After I let it dry, I totally changed my mind on the color and decided to paint the top black to make chess board table. I made a more intricate chess table back when I did my friend Tiffany’s study makeover. Check out that project! For the one in my living room, I just made this with paint.
After the black paint dried, I put a checker pattern on the table with painters tape and rolled some white paint over it. I did a few touch ups after the tape peel, then put on the poly to seal it all in.
Look how cute it is? It’s perfect in here🥰
